Books take you on a journey....

Welcome to my author website. I'm Sherry Weaver Smith, and I hope that my books will guide you on a reading pilgrimage. "Pilgrimage" is just like the word, pilgrim, someone who goes on a meaningful trip. In The Wolf and the Shield: An Adventure with Saint Patrick, a boy in 5th-century Ireland tries to care for an orphaned wolf pup while searching for a shield that's strong enough to protect everything-- and everyone-- he loves. In Search for the Hidden Garden: A Discovery with Saint Therese, a girl in 18th-century France finds and tries to save a garden while learning that doing small, good things can create a treasure of God's love in the world.
my Books: Become a Friend With A Saint

In my first two books, saints are the guides for adventures...

The "Friends with the Saints" books introduce kids in grades 2-5 to saints. The stories center on typical, historical children, the same age as the readers, stepping out on exciting adventures guided by Saint Patrick, and in the second book, St. Therese of Lisieux. Catholic publisher Pauline Books and Media wonderfully  edits and markets these all with the mission of "Discovering Hope." As the writer, I weave in spiritual themes lightly, always with an engaging story.

On a moonlit night, Saint Patrick asks a young boy to find what his heart really wants. He begins a new journey of friendship and faith. Read The Wolf and the Shield: An Adventure with Saint Patrick to start a journey of your own.

In a school in the north of France, a ten-year-old girl finds a treasure map to a hidden garden and four special trees inside. With the help of her friends and a prayerful older girl, Therese, she works to uncover the mystery. But when she makes the mistake of leaving one girl out of the adventure, danger comes to the garden. Can Therese help Charlotte to understand that the real treasure is how to create a life of kindness by doing "small, good things" for others and thereby for God? Read Search for the Hidden Garden Garden: A Discovery with Saint Therese to start your own treasure hunt.

"I know my class will love [Search for the Hidden Garden] as much as I did. Great writing!"
---Sylvia Buller, Fourth-grade teacher, Resurrection Catholic School, Pennsylvania

"...a delightful analogy or parable for the spirituality of St. Therese"
---Fr. Robert Colaresi, O. Carm., Director, Society of the Little Flower
